Wouter de Becker (Wally to his mates) is the brains behind award-winning Aussie act Gotye, as well as being the drummer and singer with his other band, The Basics. But it’s Gotye (pronounced Gaultier) that’s been catching the world’s attention of late, being compared to Beck and winning the Australian ARIA for Best Male last year, the Aussie equivalent of The Brits. Belgian-born but Melbourne-based, his second album “Like Drawing Blood” is a fantastic patchwork of samples and styles, held together by Wally’s soaring vocals and intricate arrangements. Rising up out of Brooklyn, NYC, Little Jackie are big-haired frontwoman Imani Coppola and keyboard masher Adam Pallin. After meeting in a studio the duo teamed up, with Pallin providing the soulful beats and Coppola the hip-hop-tinged lyrical nouse to create their poptastic sound; Coppola had some success as a solo artist ten years ago, but Little Jackie is her second attempt at the fame game.
