G.E.N.E.
Martin Rossiter, Steve Mason, Matt James and Kevin Miles founded the indie rock outfit Gene during 1993. They were influenced by The Stone Roses and The Smiths - like so many other British bands at that time. Their debut single "For The Dead" was released in 1994. After a string of successful indie singles Gene signed to Polydor Records and put out their debut album "Olympian" in 1995. Although the singles "Olympian" and "Haunted By You" became Top 20 hits in the UK Gene soon vanished into oblivion, since the whole country was busy debating the rivalry between Brit Pop warriors Blur and Oasis.
