Stanley Clarke

June 30th, 1951 saw the birth of Stanley M. Clarke in Philadelphia, PA, USA. Clarke was able to play different kinds of instruments before settling on the bass. Early in the 70's he played with musicians like Gil Evans or Horace Silver and proved he belonged to the best players in jazz. He then moved on to play with Chic Corea and writing movie scores as well as tending toward commercial music. His sophisticated and elegant style can also be heard on no less than four releases in 2003, among them "1, 2, to the Bass".
