The flamenco guitarist Sabicas alias Agustín Castellón Campos was born in Pamplona, Spain back in the year 1912. He had his first public appearance at age 6 and went on to work with many popular singer/songwriters of his generation. Sabicas, who quibbled that he “never had any teachers”, left Spain in 1936 during the Spanish Civil War; he first moved to Latin America and then settled down in New York, USA where he died in 1990. His full-length releases included “Flamenco Puro” (1961), “¡Flamenco!” (1972, with Mario Escudero) and “Nueva York/Granada” (1990, with Enrique Morente).
