After coming into the spotlight in the mid-80's as the vocalist for the Spanish dance-pop group Olé Olé, Marta Sánchez launched a solo career to rival that of Madonna. Quitting Olé Olé in 1991, Marta recorded her spectacular debut at Mercury. The album "Mujeres", featuring big-name songwriters and collaborators, came out in 1994 and carried the smash hit "Desesperada". Sánchez continued putting out new LPs nearly annually throughout the 90's and into the 21st century, mixing Spanish and English-language lyrics. She co-arranged her 2002 effort "Soy Yo", her first album to go gold in Spain.
