Pepper was an understated yet directly emotional tenor saxophonist who often worked in a free-ish Post Bop setting. His most distinctive efforts, however, incorporate elements of his Native American heritage -- most notably the peaceful, feel-good chant "Witchi-Tai-To," a song covered by the World Fusion group Oregon.
